The LOOK AHEAD study, assisted by The Friends of Sacred Structures, evaluated the current condition of the entire North Cross facility to determine what was most needed to bring the building up-to-date. The result was a list of items needing rather urgent attention, with the aging heating and cooling (HVAC) systems being most critical. From 2005 to 2008, we have averaged over $16,000 per year in repairs just to our church's HVAC system.
Additionally, the Breyfogle Memorial Cross Tower, which serves as a symbol of our identity, is showing troublesome deterioration. The same is true of much of our dated infrastructure. The result has become a drain to our operating budget that financially ties our hands in a way that restricts ministry. We are at another milestone in the history and growth of our church. To free us up to move boldly into future ministry, we must be proactive rather than reactive.
OUR GOALS:
-Install full-building geothermal system
-Repave parking lot after drilling wells, including portions not done during Pave The Way
-Replace single-pane windows
-Reconstruct Breyfogle Tower
-Paint sanctuary
-Install new Fellowship Hall floors
This capital stewardship campaign will help us raise the funds needed to bring our facility up-to-date, helping our church's ministry and reducing significant expenses. It will require an estimated $1.2 million to accomplish these tasks.
