Install a full-building geothermal system; Repave the parking lot after drilling wells, including portions not done during Pave The Way; Replace single-pane windows; Reconstruct Breyfogle Tower; Paint the sanctuary; Install new Fellowship Hall flooring.
It is a special church effort that seeks pledged donations -- over and above regular giving -- to pay for a major project such as this.
We began by looking at fixing the heating and cooling in just the education wing, but quickly realized the Fellowship Hall/Undercroft systems also needed to be replaced. We learned it would be much more cost-effective to do everything at once instead of a piece at a time. Although the project may seem large, it will save us substantial money in the long run.
Installing a geothermal system requires the drilling of many wells, and the best location to do this is in the back parking lot. After the wells are drilled, we will have to repair that portion of the parking lot. Since we have to redo this part, it is a great time to bring the rest of the parking lot up to the standards done during Pave The Way in the newest portions of the lot.
These windows are not energy-efficient. New windows will make the rooms more comfortable and significantly add to the utility savings we will attain from going geothermal. Also, there are panels in the education wing attached to the window frames. These panels are part of the existing heating/cooling blower units in the classrooms. These panels also have to be replaced to match up with the needs of the new geothermal system. We will also enhance the appearance of the east exterior end of the fellowship hall to go with the improvements outside of the education wing.
The Breyfogle Memorial Cross Tower, dedicated in 1957, is a symbol of our identity. It looks worm, and on closer observation the deterioration become yet more troublesome. It must be rebuilt to continue to be a visible symbol not only of North Cross, but also a reminder of what the cross means.
The current floor is cracking, hard to maintain, and difficult to keep sanitary.
It is estimated all our goals can be achieved for $1.2 million.
No. Your participation is entirely up to you. All members and visitors are welcome to contribute as they wish.
A commitment card helps the church to understand what kinds of gifts to expect and when to expect them. By completing this card you allow the church to move forward with a thoughtful, wise financial plan.
A commitment card is a statement of intent, not a contract. If your financial circumstances change significantly, your giving should also change. Simply contact the church to adjust your commitment -- letting the church know about the change (increase, decrease, or timing) in your giving.
Absolutely! All commitments matter, regardless of amount if we all participate according to our ability. Not equal gifts but equal sacrifice. God will multiply the giving!
We are asking for a three-year commitment.
We do not want to draw out the length of commitment so we can get this project done and move on to whatever the future holds for North Cross. This will also allow us to pay less interest than we would on a longer bank loan.
Yes, only our financial services staff will have knowledge of pledges and giving records.
Commitment cards are due on Sunday, March 28, 2010.
The new three-year capital campaign will officially begin on Sunday, April 11, 2010.
We are asking for a three-year financial response. You decide your personal giving schedule -- weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, one-time gifts, or another schedule of your choice. Decide on a plan that works for you; then, help the church understand your giving plan.
